What is a screenplay?

What is a screenplay?

This is a script which is written before producing the film. The actions, movements, expressions and the dialogue of the characters is the production. They have much more detail than a normal script and give more of a clue to what the film will look like and how it will be filmed.

As the script is filled with information; it's hard for the screenplay to include the correct facts it will need. This is why the script is structured in a special way and the text font is structured, for the text to fit on the page where its enough for one minutes worth of speech.

We looked at the screenplay for  'Jaws' the thriller.
This is where we looked at the different sections of the
script; including the actions, atmosphere, dialogue and
the camera shots. This is where the actors will know the
expressions they will need to give in certain situations.
The screenplay just gives the producers an idea of
what the film will look like before they shoot the
certain scenes. The structure of this script has the
numbers of the scenes on the side with the basic
information through the middle of the page. It also has
the draft idea of what the characters will say.
